Hedden, Proprietor The Ideal Home for Tourist Altitude 2000 Feet On No. 2 Highway Rates Reasonable Hiawassee, GA July 27, 1927 Miss Glenda Hedden Marietta, Oklahoma My Dear Daughter, Your letter to hand and was glad to hear from you all. This leaves us all well. I wrote your Daddy the last letter and never got any reply. I am sure nothing would please me any better than to see you all. I have heard several people remark about your dady [sic] having such a nice family. I am now 66 years old but am having the best of health. Can eat any thing I can get and sleep well. Fred you would not know this country now since they have made highway roads through this country. The convicts are now working in front of my house. I suppose you know I bought the Hooper Hotel [and] have been in the Hotel business 5 years. I am having all the boarders I can accommodate. Am looking for 6 from Atlanta in a few days. Mae was married last Christmas. She married Arvel Berrong. He is a son of Virg. Berrong. He is now teaching school. Mae is here with us. I got a letter from Ray a few days ago. He is at Akron Ohio. He has been gone for about 2 months and has never got a job yet. I sent him the money to come home on the other day. I guess he feels a little lonesome out there without any money or friends. We have got fine prospects here for good crops. Everything looks good. We made a complete failure on wheat this year. I don't know how long I am going to live, but you know according to nature I soon will be an old man, and I sure would like to see you and family before I pass away. Come and see me. Your [grand] father, W.K. Hedden Additional Comments: Letter from W.K.
