Obituaries

Mrs. Neta Gibson

Mrs. Neta H. Gibson, age 81, of Hiawassee, passed away Friday evening in the 
Towns County Hospital. She was born in Towns County and had remained here her 
entire life. Her church membership was with the McConnell Memorial Baptist 
Church.

Survivors include: three daughters: Mrs. Fleta Blaine of Franklin, N.C., Mrs. 
Shelton Johnson of Jacksonville, Fla. and Mrs. Thomas Neff of Gainesville, 
Fla.; one son, Fred Gibson, Hiawassee; one brother, Mr. Fred Hedden, 
Hiawassee; four half brothers: Ed, Ray, Frank and Troy Hedden all of 
Hiawassee; one half sister, Mrs. Arvil Berrong of Scottdale, Ga. Five 
grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held from the McConnell Memorial Baptist Church Sunday 
afternoon at 1:00 with Jack Richardson officiating. Music was furnished by the 
church choir, under the direction of Mr. Homer Nicholson. Burial was in the 
Osborn Cemetery. The following gentlemen were pallbearers: Harold Kimsey, 
Ketron Hedden, Feddo Hedden, James Dyer, Herman Kimsey, and Donald Hedden.

Frank Abernathy Funeral Home, Young Harris and Hiawassee, in charge of funeral 
arrangements.
