July 14, 1978 Soperton, Ga. I have been trying to get the information you wanted concerning the family tree. My Daddy did not have anything concerning it. He did not even have a Bible when he died. The house burned the year before and all his books and papers were destroyed.(Lee's father was Henry Herndon, an Advent Christian Preacher for many years buried at Zaidee Church. His wife was a Calhoun.) Son of William and Catherine Jane Blount Herndon buried in Calhoun Co., Florida. Lee said he went over to Jeff Davis County and visited the members of great uncle John's family, but none of them could tell him anything. All that he said he knew was about Great Grandfather are the things that his Dad had told him. His Dad was told that Great Grand Pa, Henry and 2 brothers came to Georgia from N.C., but he did not know what year. Larry Braddy, one of Aunt Florence's Great Grandsons had been tracing the family tree. He said that Grandpa Henry was born in Georgia, so it may be possible that he was kin to the Herndons in Laurens Co., Ga. in 1814. G. Grandpa was born in 1821. However, I cannot find whether we are all related or not. Love, Lee Herndon(now deceased) He sent extra pages listing Henry and Samantha Miller Herndon's children but they are not complete. As follows: This is as he listed them and might not be in birth order. #1.---Warren H. born 1850 died 07/27/1933 married Margaret Salter and had 4 children. #2.--William Herndon born 11/1850--married Catherine Jane Blount and moved with all his children to North Florida(Calhoun Co.) in 1903. Catherine Jane Blount--married William Herndon Sara E. Blount married Grover Collins or George Collins.??? Matilda Blount married John Connell Joe Blount married Vianna Herndon(She later married Hiram Gillis and was called ,Viney. Lee wrote that Great Grandmother died when Matilda was born--Great Grandpa put the 3 older girls in an orphanage in Savannah, where they stayed until they were grown, one died there.
