(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net March 15, 2009, 2:07 pm The Soperton News 7-26-1989 Page 7 Mrs. Viola Victoria Foskey Carter Mrs. Viola Victoria Foskey Carter, 80, of Route 1 Adrian, died in the Emanuel County Nursing Home Wednesday, July 19, after a long illness. A native of Johnson County, Mrs. Carter had lived in Jesup before returning to Adrian 21 years ago. She was a daughter of the late Joseph Tillman Foskey and of the late Mrs. Mary Mimbs Foskey and was married to the late Robert Carter. She was a member of the Orianna Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Robert Don Carter of Reidsville and Charles Jerry Carter of Adrian; a daughter, Mrs. Ruby Smith of Jesup; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted in the Orianna Baptist Church at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon, July 21, with the Rev. Douglas Bush officiating. Burial was in the Orianna Baptist Church Cemetery with Sammons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Active pallbearers were Virgil Norris Jr., Frank Hussey, Russell Ricks, Elton Clark, Carlos Clark, and Jerry Rogers. The honorary escort included Wayne Hooks, Clayton Gardner, Guy Clark, Jim L. Gillis Jr., and Jr. McDaniel. Additional Comments: Viola was born 8-29-1908. Her husband is also buried at Orianna Cemetery.
