The Soperton News 6 Jul 1961 FP
                       Henry D. Ely Passes Wednesday
 Henry Daniel Ely, 84 of Soperton, died yesterday in a Soperton hospital.
 Native of Washington County, Mr. Ely, a retired farmer, had lived in Soperton 
for the pass 60 years. He was a member of the Holiness Church.
 Survivors are five sons, Henry L. Ely and Edward D. Ely, of Soperton, John M. 
Ely of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., James R. Ely and Curtis Ely, of Macon; three 
daughters, Mrs. Thelma Webb of Swainsboro, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Tyson and Mrs. 
Catherine Peebles of Macon; and 40 grandchildren.
 Funeral services for Mr. Ely were held Friday afternoon at 3pm at the Midway 
Methodist Church with the Rev. Leo Mimbs officiating. Grandsons served as 
pallbearers and burial was in the church cemetery.

Additional Comments:
Henry was born 30 Oct 1876 to Edward Brantley Ely and Elizabeth Unknown Ely. 
His first wife was Annie M. Smith and his second wige was Lottie J. McDaniel 
Ely who is also buried at Midway.
