Mrs. Vida Sammons Price, 55 of Savannah, was instantly killed Sunday afternoon in a head on collision on US Hwy 17, six miles from Savannah. Mrs. Price was riding in the back seat of the car driven by her son-in-law, Henry Harrison, as they were returning from a Christmas tree hunt when the accident happened. Mrs. Harrison and child was in the front seat. According to policemen who investigated the accident, the Harrison car was hit by Carl Moore of Richmond Hill, who tried to pass another car without having sufficient clearing. The officer is quoted as saying he was driving too fast and recklessly. He is being held on charges of reckless driving and driving under the influence of intoxicants. Mrs. Price, her husband, and children moved to Savannah from here about seven years ago. Mr. Price has since passed away. She was a woman of sterling character and loveable personality. Her tragic death is felt here by a large circle of friends as well as relatives. Funeral services were held at Midway Church Tuesday afternoon with Rev. C. F. Tidwell of Alamo conducting the services and interment in the church cemetery. Sammons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. The bereaved family has the sincere sympathy of their many friends. Mrs. Price is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Nina Lou Vivien of Memphis, Tenn. and Mrs. Laverene Harrison of Savannah; five sons, Howard Sammons, Savannah, E. A. Sammons, Vidalia, H. E., R. E., and J. B. Sammons, all of Bartow, Fla.; six sisters, Mrs. I. J. Davis, Mrs. Doc Davis of Baxley, Mrs. D. M. McLendon, Winter Haven, Fla., Mrs. E. M. Wilkes, McRae, Mrs. W. J. Pope of Bristol, and Mrs. Eula Claxton, Soperton; four brothers, F. W. Braddy, Waycross, G. W., W. C., and Ralph Braddy, all of Soperton.
