Mr. Sammons was born on March 2, 1928 in Soperton, Ga. Son of the late George Washington Sammons and Georgia Kate Sammons.He is survived by one son, Joe Sammons; five daughters, Pam Sammons Clements (Jimmy), Cynthia P. Sammons, Patti J. Sammons-Mens (Eddie), Susanna Sammons (Jim Lykins) and Julie Marie Sammons (Jeff Graham); six grandchildren, Laura Sammons, Russell Bowen, Jr., Georgia Bell, Feydra Gorslin, Samuel and Gabrial Mens; four great- grandchildren, Nathaniel Sammons, Nicholas Sammons, Jayleigh Bell and Miah Bell; four brothers, Herbert Hall, Coolidge Sammons, Hugh L. Sammons and Ronald P. Sammons; four sisters, Jewell Meeks, Flossie S. Johnson, Grace Johnson and Doris Holton. SFC United States Army, retired. Performed service in the Atlantic Theatre with the U.S. Coast Guard in 1945. Also served in the Republic of Vietnam from 1962- 1963. Mr. Sammons will be missed by many family members and friends. He fought a long, hard battle for many years with cancer. Mr. Sammons loved our Lord, his family, friends and his church. He will be sorely missed. Services will be private.
