                             G. W. SAMMONS BURIED SUNDAY
 Funeral services for G. W. (Crockett) Sammons, prominent Treutlen County 
planter, who died Saturday at his home on Route 3 Soperton, following an heart 
attack, were held Sunday afternoon at Harmony Church, Revs. T. H. Beckwith and 
Curd Walker officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Sammons Funeral 
Home in charge.
 Mr. Sammons, who lacked only a few days of being seventy years of age, was 
originally a native of Glascock County. He was a charter member of Harmony 
Lodge No. 405. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
 Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Georgia Hall; eight sons, Tom, Roscoe, 
Cooledge, Groyt, Hugh, and Ronald Sammons, all of Soperton, Joseph Sammons of 
Macon, and Horace Sammons of Lake Wales, Fla.; twelve daughters, Mrs. R. L. 
Holton, Mrs. H. G. Barwick, Mrs. W. T. Kitchens, Mrs. Glenn Holton, Misses 
Wilma, Doris, and Mattie Lewis Sammons, all of Soperton, Mrs. Pearlie Johnson 
of Macon, Mrs. Dennis Morris of Bay Village, Ohio, Mrs. Lee Sikes and Mrs. L. 
O. Beck of Altoona, Fla., and Mrs. Phillip Meeks of Douglas.
 Pallbearers were Masons and that order had charge of the graveside services.

Additional Comments:
Crockett was born 28 Feb 1871 to Unknown and Mary Ann Sammons who is also 
buried in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. His first wife was Franzine 
Lauice "Francis" Black Sammons and his second wife was Georgia Kate Cooper Hall 
Sammons.
