              Last Rites For Mrs. Sammons Held Thur., Jan. 5
 Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, 2;30, Jan. 5, for Mrs. Georgia 
Cooper Sammons at Harmony Baptist Church and burial followed in the church 
cemetery. The Rev. Curd Walker officiated at the services with Sammons Funeral 
Home in charge of arrangements.
 One of the county's most prominent and beloved women, Mrs. Sammons was the 
widow of the late G. W. (Crockett) Sammons, well-known and influential citizen 
who died in 1941. She had been ill for the past four months when death came 
Wednesday morning at her home near the city. Members of the family were at her 
bedside when she died. A member of the Baptist Church, Mrs. Sammons was 52 
years old.
 Surviving are five sons, Herbert Hall, Cooledge, Hugh, and Ronald Sammons, all 
of Soperton, Groyt Sammons, Baltimore, Md.; four daughters, Mattie L. Sammons, 
Soperton, Mrs. Doris Holton, Atlanta, Mrs. Wilma Perkins, Macon, and Mrs. Grace 
Johnson, Dublin; four sisters, Mrs. Leon Thompson, Swainsboro, Mrs. Mae Henry 
and Mrs. Fred Riner, of Graymont, and Mrs. John Anderson, Lyons; four brothers, 
Edwin Cooper, Leesburg, Fla., Ralph Cooper, Orlando, Fla., Joe Cooper, Lumber 
City, and Howard Cooper, Jesup.
 Pallbearers serving were Bill Sammons, James henry, Darrell Holton, Tullie 
Barwick, S. A. Horton, and Lester Hutchinson.


Additional Comments:
Georgia was born 24 Nov 1897 in Emanuel County, Georgia. Georgia death 
certificate #1709. Her husband, George Washington (Crockett) Sammons is also 
buried in Harmony.
