(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net November 22, 2010, 4:35 pm The Soperton News 9-14-1939 Mrs. Sammons Is Buried at Harmony Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie Dixon Sammons, 75 years of age, of Uvalda, were held Saturday at Harmony church, Rev. Frank Nalls conducting the services, and Sammons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Sammons was a native of Glascock county but had been making her home at Uvalda for the past 15 years. She was visiting her daughter, Mrs. G. F. Tyson and suffered a heart attack, although she had been ill for a month. Mrs. Sammons was a member of the Baptist church. She was married to W. M. Sammons in 1883. She is survived by three sons, M. G. Sammons, Wrightsville; Jim Sammons, Uvalda; Malvin Sammons, Kite; three daughters, Mrs. G. F. Tyson, Soperton; Mrs. S. W. Perdue, Batesburg, SC; Mrs. T. L. Odom, Augusta, three brothers, A. D. and Calvin Dixon, Wrightsville and S. M. Dixon, Kite; two sisters, Mrs. G. C. Sammons and Mrs. D. G. Davis, Wrightsville; 28 grandchildren and 23 great- grandchildren also survive. Additional Comments: Fannie was born 31 Jul 1864. Her husband, William M. "Uncle Billy" Sammons is also buried at Harmony.
