McLaughlin Grantor: John Douglass Land Lot/District: 109/6 Date written: April 18, 1840 Date recorded: November 29, 1841 Troup County Deed Book H, pages 168 & 169 Georgia Troup County This indenture made and entered into this Eighth day of April Eighteen Hundred and Forty. John Douglass of the one part and Daniel McMillan and Josiah T. McLaughlin late Merchants of the other part, Witnesseth that the said John Douglass for and in consideration of the sum of Fifteen Hundred Dollars to him in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents doth grant bargain, sell, and convey unto the said McMillan & McLaughlin their heirs and assigns all that Lot or parcel of Land situate lying and being in the Town of LaGrange known and distinguished as the Lot and Store House now occupied by William M. Roberts commencing at the corner where the Store House now stands and running North to where the Garden railings(?) now stands thence along said railings East directly opposite to the well including half the well and thence from said well East about Ten feet, thence South square to the Road Fifteen or Twenty feet from the store thence West to the beginning corner it being the South West corner of Lot Number One (1) in square Letter (F) the same being part of a Lot Number One Hundred and Nine in the Sixth District of Troup County. To Have and To Hold said Lot or parcel of Land unto the said McMillan & McLaughlin their heirs and assigns forever in fee simple. And the said John Douglas for himself his heirs and assigns the said Lot or parcel of Land to the said McMillan & McLaughlin their heirs and assigns will forever warrant and defend the title thereof against the claim of all persons whatsoever.
