Witnesseth that the said William McLaughlin on this day, made and delivered to the said Levi Geer and Joel Gibson, Administrators as aforesaid his certain Promissory Note subscribed with his hand and bearing even date with these presents whereby the said William McLaughlin hath promised to pay the said Levi Geer and Joel Gibson Administrators of the Estate of Thomas Dellency Deceased or bearer Eleven Hundred and Fifty Seven Dollars on or before Twenty Fifth day of December next insuring the note thereof for value received. Now for and in consideration of the sum of Five ? (page cut off) by the said Levi Geer and Joel Gibson, Administrators as aforesaid to the said William McLaughlin in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged as well and for the better securing the payment of the aforesaid Promissory Note the said William McLaughlin hath granted bargained and sold and doth by these present, grant bargain and sell unto the said Levi Geer and Joel Gibson, Administrators as aforesaid their heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the Twelfth District of Troup County known and distinguished in the plan of said District as Lot Number (left blank) containing (page cut off) Hundred Two and a half acres more or less, also the following named negroes towit - Sigh, a man about Twenty two years old, Jack, a man about twenty years old, Harry, a man about Thirty years old and Amy, a woman about Twenty Five years old. To have and to hold said bargained premises and Negro property to the said Levi Geer and Joel Gibson Administrators as aforesaid, their heirs and assigns to their proper use, benefit and behoof forever. And the said William McLaughlin for himself, his heirs and assigns the said bargained premises and property unto the said Levi Geer and Joel Gibson Administrators as aforesaid will warrant and forever defend against the claim of himself, his heirs and assigns against the claim of all other persons whatever. Provided nevertheless that if the said William McLaughlin, his heirs and assigns shall and do well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Levi Geer and Joel Gibson Administrators as aforesaid their heirs and assigns the aforementioned sum of Eleven Hundred and Fifty Seven Dollars on the day and time mentioned and appointed for the payment thereof of the said Promissory Note mentioned with lawful interest for the same according to the (page cut off) of said note there and from thence forth as will this present Indenture and the right to the property thereby conveyed was as the said Promissory Note shall cease and be void to all property and purposes.
