This indenture made and entered into this Twenty Fifth day of May
Eighteen Hundred and Forty between Daniel McMillan and Josiah T.
McLaughlin of the one part and James Herring and William M.
Roberts of the other part all of the County and State aforesaid ,
Witnesseth that the said Daniel McMillan and Josiah T. McLaughlin
for and in consideration of the sum of Sixteen Hundred and Fifty
Dollars to them in hand paid at and before the sealing and
delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby
acknowledged hath granted bargained sold and conveyed and by
these presents doth grant bargain sell and conveyed (sic)unto the
said James Herring and William M. Roberts their heirs and assigns
all that tract Lot or parcel of Land situate lying and being in
the Town of LaGrange known and distinguished in the plan of said
Town as lies within the following boundaries to wit commencing at
the South West Corner of Lot (No.1) Number One in Square Letter F
in said Town and running East along the Street Thirty Feet,
thence North Thirty Feet, thence East Nineteen Feet, thence North
Forty Seven Feet, thence West Forty Nine Feet thence to the
beginning corner Seventy Seven Feet the same being part of a Lot
(No.109) One Hundred (sic) in the Sixth District of Troup County.
To have and to hold said Lot or parcel of Land unto the said
James Herring and William M. Roberts their heirs and assigns in
fee simple. And the said Daniel McMillan and Josiah T. McLaughlin
for themselves their heirs and assigns the said Lot or parcel of
Land to the said James Herring and William M. Roberts their heirs
and assigns will forever warrant and defend the title thereof
against the claim of all persons whatsoever . 

In Testimony whereof the said Daniel McMillan and Josiah T.
McLaughlin has hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals
the day and year first above written.
