The big open fireplaces with the bright wood fires threw a gleam of light on all and the bright faces that greeted us made each feel that life was indeed worth living. The forty guests were seated at a table that was beautifully decorated and filled with everything tempting to the eye and palate. This lovely home by the rock spring is presided over by Mr. Brook’s three attractive daughters who know so well how to give real joy to their friends. Additional Comments: Transcriber's note: Joshua L. Brooks is my 1st cousin 4x removed. He was the son of Joshua Brook and Sarah Cole McLaughlin. The three daughters mentioned in this article are: Martha Lorena Brook, Zula French Brook, and Mary Elizabeth (Lizzie) Brook. Joshua also had a son, Robert Dallis Brook. I haven't confirmed the identify of his wife. His surname is Brook, but I have found it listed as Brooks in various records/articles including this one.
