Chapel Hill, N. C., April 24 -- Mrs. Lottie Lanier Branson, widow of Dr. E. C. 
Branson, former head of the Department for Rural-Social Economics in the 
University of North Carolina, died of a cerebral hemorrhage at her home here 
this morning.  Her age was 73.  She was born in West Point, Ga., and had lived 
in Chapel Hill twenty-seven years coming here from Athens, Ga., where Dr. 
Branson had been teaching.

Surviving are two sons, Lanier of Aiken, SC, and Phil of Atlanta, Ga., and two 
daughters, Mrs. Young Smith of New York and Miss Elizabeth Branson of Chapel 
Hill.

Additional Comments:
Charlotte was born ca May 1868 to Elijah Frank Lanier and Susan Elizabeth 
Cherry.  She married Eugene C. Branson on 27 Sept 1888 in Troup Co., Georgia.

Dr. Branson died 13 Mar 1933 in Durham Co., NC.

Their daughter, Edith, is Mrs. Young Smith.
