Mrs. Birtice Brown
Mrs. Birtice Mae Brown, 63, of Weathers Drive died Thursday at City-County 
Hospital following several months of ill health. A Troup County resident for 
the past 14 years, she was a native of Randolph County, Ala., and a member of 
Beulah Baptist Church. Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Sara Davis, Mrs. 
Allie Jones, Mrs. Lorene Moore, Mrs. Nellie Kate Parkerson, and Mrs. Jean 
Osborn, all of LaGrange; one son, Gurson Brown of LaGrange; two sisters, Mrs. 
Bertha Jefferson (should be Jeffers) and Mrs. Annie Cunningham, both of 
Roanoke, Ala., three brothers, Lemmie (should be Lunnie)Gay of LaGrange, 
Austin Gay of Eustis, Fla., and Luther Gay of Mt. Dora, Fla.; and ten 
grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 3 p.m. at 
Southwest LaGrange Baptist Church with Revs. Fred Buchanan and Bruce Smith 
officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens. The body will be at 
her home on Weathers Drive until the funeral hour Saturday. Hunter-Allen-
Myhand Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Birtice Maybell Gay Brown was born 5 April 1910 in Randolph County, Alabama 
and died 3 May 1973 in LaGrange, Troup County, Georgia. Birtice M. Gay's 
parents were Thomas "Tom" Jefferson Gay who was born 27 April 1886 in Randolph 
County, Alabama and died 14 October 1957 in Heard County, Georgia and Willie 
Dee Veal who was born 3 February 1887 in Randolph County, Alabama and died 2 
May 1964 in Heard County, Georgia. 

Birtice M. Gay married John Henry Brown on 7 December 1929 and marriage record 
is recorded in Franklin, Heard County, Georgia. 

Brothers and Sisters of Birtice M. Gay Brown:

Nannie B. Gay b. 25 July 1908 and d. 7 December 1909. Buried in Misc. 
Cemeteries Townships 21 & 22(High Shoals Baptist Church Cemetery, Randolph 
County, Alabama).

Bertha Lee Gay b. 10 May 1912 and d. 8 October 1994 in Randolph County, 
Alabama. Bertha married Durard V. Jeffers August 1959. Bertha and Durard 
Jeffers are buried in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery, Hillabehatchee, 
Randolphh County, Alabama.

Fanny Mae Gay b. 10 November 1913 and d. 28 December 1929 in Randolph County, 
Alabama. Fannie Mae Gay never married. She is believed to be buried close to 
Thomas "Tom" Jefferson and Willie Dee Veal Gay in Beulah Baptist Church 
Cemetery, Hillabehatchee, Randolph County, Alabama in an unmarked grave.

William Lunnie Gay b. 10 May 1915 and d. 31 October 1982 in LaGrange, Troup 
County, Georgia. William L. Gay married Carrie Causey on 6 November 1933 
(marriage record recorded in Wedowee Courthouse, Wedowee, Randolph County, 
Alabama). William Lunnie and Carrie Causey Gay are buried in the LaGrange City 
(Shadowlawn) Cemetery, LaGrange, Troup County, Georgia.

Infant Gay b. 19 June 1917 and d. 28 June 1917 in Randolph County, Alabama. 
Infant Gay buried in Misc. Cemeteries Township 21 & 22 (High Shoals Baptist 
Church Cemetery, Randolph County, Alabama). 

Luther B. "Gout" Gay b. 3 February 1919 and d. 11 February 2002 in Mt. Dora, 
Lake County, Florida. Luther Gay married Annie Lambert. Luther and Annie 
Lambert Gay are buired in Lakeside Memory Gardens Cemetery, Eustis, Florida. 

Annie Catherine Gay b. 5 March 1923 and d. 13 December 2007 in Randolph 
County, Alabama. Annie C. Gay married James "Buster" W. Cunningham on 19 July 
1941. Annie Catherine Gay and James "Buster" W. Cunningham are buried in the 
Springfield Methodist Church Cemetery (Pittman Cemetery), Springfield, 
Randolph County, Alabama.

Jessie "Jack" Thomas Gay b. 12 September 1925 and d. 20 March 1970 in Randolph 
County, Alabama. Believe Jessie T. Gay married a Minnie Carson. Jessie Thomas 
Gay is buried in the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery, Hillabehatchee, Randolph 
County, Alabama.

Austin Junior Gay b. 24 December 1930 and d. 26 February 2012 in Waycross, 
Ware County, Georgia. He married a lady named Nancy. Austin J. Gay was 
cremated according to his obit.
