The man, Whitson Leon Ogletree, 64, LaGrange, was on a fishing trip with two friends when their boat overturned below the dam about 2 p.m. The Georgian was pulled to shore by another fisherman, but he suffered a heart attack before an ambulance arrived and died a few minutes later at the scene. An ambulance from Tuscumbia picked the body up on the south bank of the river and transferred it to the Tri-Cities, where it was later returned to Georgia. The victim was a veteran of both World Wars, and a retired textile worker. A Cullman man, Clarence H. Keller, drowned in Mallard Creek May 19 after toppling off a homemade fishing platform.
