TRUITT DIES AT HIS LAGRANGE HOME Mr. James G. Truitt, one of the leading citizens of Troup county and an industrial pioneer in that section of the state, died Monday morning at his home in LaGrange, according to news received in Atlanta on Monday. His death occurred in his seventy-third year, following a few days illness of pneumonia. Mr. Truitt was widely known throughout the south for his industrial and agricultural development in Georgia, especially in Troup County. He also operated in Atlanta real estate and had hundreds of friends there, who are grieved to learn of his passing. During the latter years of his life he had used his fortune, founded on LaGrange business enterprises in philanthropic work and in promoting the welfare of the district. When the business depression ran cotton down to its lowest level in years, Mr. Truitt backed the cotton farmer. He founded the first cotton mill in LaGrange, now a flourishing manufacturing district, some thirty years ago. He was born and reared in LaGrange, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Monroe Truitt and made his home there practically all of his life. He was interested in educational progress of the state and contributed large sums of money to local institutions. He recently gave $50,000. to LaGrange College. The Atlanta Journal, the 9th.
