Woodyard III, 90, of LaGrange passed away Friday, March 2, 2007 at Hospice LaGrange. Mr. Woodyard was born on Feb. 8, 1917 in Lawrenceville, Ga., son of the late Henry Thomas Jr. and Estelle Lanier Woodyard. A long-time resident of Troup County, he was am avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Midway United Methodist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific as a signal officer. He attended Harvard University during the war and is an alumni of Berry College in Rome, Ga. He retired from Milliken & Company after 32 years of service as a utility engineer. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ruth Woodyard; daughter and son-in- law, Cherie Lanier and Jay Funderburk of Long Beach, Miss.; sons and daughters- in-law, Henry T. and Helen Woodyard of Travelers Rest, S.C., Richard T. and Jan Woodyard of LaGrange, William H. and Sherry Woodyard of Calhoun; a brother and sister-in-law, James C. and Marjorie Woodyard of Mineral Bluff, Ga.; 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one niece. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Estelle Redhouse. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Chapel with John Saunders officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before service time.
