Williams August 6 LAGRANGE, Ga., July 17- (1943) The cordial interest of friends in this section and in the east centers in the announcement of the engagement of Miss Georgia Harriett Head, of LaGrange, to Sidney Bathurst Williams, of West Caldwell, N. J., the marriage to be an outstnading social event of August 6, solemnized at the First Presbyterian Church. The bride-elect is the daugher of Mr. and Mrs. George Head, of LaGrange. Her maternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Aycock, of Carrollton, Mr. Aycock being one of the founders of Mandeville Mills and the Agricultural and Merchanical School, now West Georgia College. Her paternal grandparents are the late Rev. T. J. Head and Mrs. Head of Atlanta, formerly of Griffin. Mrs. Head, the bride-elect's paternal grandmother, was the former Sally Rebecca Merritt, member of a family of outstanding southern educators. Following graduation from LaGrange High School, Miss Head graduated from LaGrange College, where she received a bachelor of arts degree with majors in English and piano, in the class of 1943. At college, she was a member of the glee club, the college sextet, chapel choir, president of Tau Kappa Tau sorority, president of the Town Girls' Club, business manage of the Scroll, school publication, and was selected for "Whos' Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges." She was also elected a member of the May court for four years. The bride-elect posses unusual brunett beauty, is both stately and charming. She has enjoyed wide popularity here and in the east, where she has visited. Mrs. Clyde Dudley, of LaGrange, is her only sister. Mr. Williams is the son of the late Rowland Bathurst Aikman Williams and Mrs. Williams, of West Caldwell, N. J., Mrs. Williams having been born in Calcutta, India, where he father was with the British East India Company. The bridegroom- elect's father was born in Jamaica, West Indies, and was descended from Lord and Lady Bathurst. Mr. Williams, graduated, cum laude, in 1937, from the University of Florida, in the school of electrical engineering, and was a member of the Florida Blue Key. He now holds a position with Curtiss Propellor in Caldwell, N. J., and is member of the American Institute of Elecritcal Engineers and the Florida Engineering Society. He has traveled extensively in making tests of new designs in airplanes.
