He was born in Fairfield Co, SC. ca 1771. He married Elizabeth Andrews ca 1800 in SC. She was born ca 1782 and died in Troup Co. 12 May 1846. She was the daughter of Edward Andrews Sr. and Elizabeth Henson. Abel came to Troup Co around 1833, and died there 28 July 1839. He is also found as Able Gibson. LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF ABEL GIBSON. Troup County The last will and testament Georgia of Abel Gibson of Troup County Georgia I Abel Gibson of the State and County aforesaid considering the uncertainty of this mortal life & being of sound mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following viz: First I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Elizabeth Gibson, the tract of land on which I now reside during her natural life and at her death to be sold and divided equally among my lawful heirs except William Dansby and Ebenezer E. Mooty, to whom I hereafter bequeath their respective shares, provided her death does not happen before my youngest child becomes of the age of twenty one, in that case the land is to be appropriated to the use and benefit of those children till the youngest becomes of age of twenty one and then the land is to be sold and divided amongst the heirs as above stated. Secondly I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Elizabeth Gibson during her natural life three negroes viz Frank Sarah and Vine, waggon and harness two horses, three cows and their calves all the stock of hogs and sheep, and all the plantation tools and the same at her death to be disposed of as she may wish or will. I bequeath to Ebenezar E. Mooty my son in law (*six months after my decease) the sum of ten dollars to be paid to him by my executor or executors six months after my decease. I also bequeath to William Dansby my son-in-law one negro girl Linda to William Cline my son in law one negro girl Vena to my son Joel Gibson one negro man Jupiter to my daughter Ellen Gibson one negro woman Mariah & child Lydia together with all her future increase. To my daughter Charlotte Gibson one negro girl Redd together with her future increase to Laban A. Gibson my son one negro girl Harriet to Osburn my son one negro girl Renar to George W.L.Gibson my son one negro boy Adam. The aforesaid negroes except for the one now in pssession of William Dansby my son in law to be appraised by five disinterested persons and when then appraised the amount of appraisment to be preserved by my Executor or executors till the land be sold and where the amount that one heir receives for the negroes shall exceed that of another the deficiency to be made up & equal, and further that those who receive most value for the negroes shall not pay any interest to the others for such values. I further will and bequeath to my five grandchildren (The children of Ebenezar E. Mooty and his wife Elizabeth Mooty my daughter) viz Jane, Eliza, Cynthia, Eli and Urban Mooty a sum equal to the amount of my son Joel's part of my estate the said sum to be held by my executor or executors and to be appropriated to them or their benefit at such times and in such ways as shall seem best to him or them my executor or executors until they (my grandchildren) shall either marry or become of age and then the remainder to be paid with legal or lawful interest on the unappropriated part of the same from and after twelve months after my decease. The remainder of my Estate goods and chattles together with the present crop except so much as shall be needed for the use of the plantation to be sold at public auction to the highest bidder and all my just and lawful debts to be paid out of the same, and if any remains are left that it be put to interest or appropriated to the part due my grandchildren. And I hereby appoint Joel Gibson and Laban A.
