Will Book A, Page 22-24 Written: August 7, 1833 Recorded: July 7, 1834 Troup Co. Will Book A, p. 22 - 24 Thomas Leveritt, deceased, Will State of Georgia Troup County. In the name of God, Amen. I Thomas Leveritt of the state and County afforesaid being in perfect health of body and sound mind memory and understanding Considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof and being desirous to settle worldy affairs and thereby to be the better prepared to leave this wourld when it shall please God to call me home, do thereby make and publish this my last Will and testament in name and form following, that is to say, first and principally, to commit my soul to the hands of the Almighty God, and my body to the earth, to be deacently buried, at the direction of my Executors here in after mentioned, and after my debts is paid and funeral charges I desire and bequeath as follows: Item 1st I gave and bequeath to my daughter Anna one negro girl named Lucey, one bed and furniture & one Cow and Calf which she has received. Item 2nd I gave and bequeath to my Son Jeremiah one negro boy Named Abraham one horse, and one Yoke of Oxen which he has received Also one negro boy named Clark, which he may receive at his Mothers death. Item 3rd I gave and bequeath to my Daughter Catharine one negro girl named Poll, one bed and furniture, one Cow and Calf, which she has received. Item 4th I gave and bequeath to my Daughter Mariah one negro girl named Hannah, one bed and furniture, and one Cow and Calf, which she has received, in Currant Money. Item 5th I gave and bequeath to my Daughter Mertella one negro girl named Orit, one bed and furniture one Cow and Calf which She has received. Item 6th I gave and bequeath to my Daughter in law, who was the wife of my Son Thomas, deceased, now Jane Johnson and my two Grand Children, heirs of my son Thomas, deceased Hiram and Lucretia, one negro boy named Jack, one bed and furniture, one Cow and Calf, one Yoke of Oxen which they have received. Item 7th I gave and bequeath to my son Gideon, one negro by named Aaron, one bed and furniture one cow and calf, which he has received. Also one negro boy named Israel, which he shall not take into possession until after his mothers death or Marriage. Item 8th I gave and bequeath to my Daughter Almedy one negro girl named Kiss, one bed and furniture, one cow and calf, which she has received. Item 9th I gave and bequeath to my daughter Malitta one negro girl named Cate, one bed and furniture one cow and calf, which she has received, and one negro boy which she shall not take into possession until after her mothers death, or marriage, the negro boy by the name of Duff. Item 10th I gave and bequeath to my son Abraham one negro boy named Dick one bed and furniture, one Cow and Calf, which he has received. Also one negro boy named Comodore, one lot of land in the fifth district of Troup County where on I now live which he shall not take into possession until after his mothers death or marriage. Item 11th I gave and bequeath to my Daughter Mary Elizabeth one negro girl named Suck, one bed and furniture one cow and calf which she has received. Also one negro girl named Ann which She shall not take into possession until after her Mothers death or Marriage. Item 12th I gave and bequeath to my Dear wife Mary Leveritt one negro Woman named Belley and one negro girl named Mariah as her own right and property and the balance of my property both real and personal during her lifetime or widowhood and after her death or marriage, which may first occur I want the balance of my property sold and the proceeds Equally divided amongst my children and what amount may be for my Daughter Martilla to be hurs during her life time and then to belong to the heirs of her body. And lastly, I do hereby appoint my dear and affectionate wife Mary Leveritt my Executrix, and my Son Gideon Leveritt and Henry Kellam my other Executors to carry into affect this my last Will and testament revoking and annulling all former Wills by me heretofore made ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and testament. In testimony whereof I do here unto set my hand and affix my seal this the Seventh day of August in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and Thirty Three. July Term 1834 In open Court Came Gideon Leveritt and Mary Leveritt, tow of the nominated executor and Executrix, of the last Will and testament of Thomas Leveritt decd and was proven in term of the law by the oaths of James W. Carlisle, Benjamin C. Graves and David Lawson the Subscribing Witnesses. You and each of you do solemnly Swear that you saw Thomas Leveritt Sign, Seal publish and declare this instrument of writing to be and contain his last Will and testament and at the time thereof he was of sound mind and disposing memory and that he signed the same of his own free will and that you Signed the same as Subscribing witnesses in the presence of each other.
