Wilson CCO July Term 1850 Examined & Passed Saml Reid JJC Chair Recorded 12 August 1850 Wiley Wilson CCO No information is known concerning William McLaughlin’s date of birth and birthplace. A fellow reseacher has stated he was born about 1784 in Maryland but I haven’t been able to confirm this. William married Susannah Tuck, daughter of Josiah and Tabitha Tuck on March 23, 1809. They had the following children: 1. Josiah Tuck McLaughlin was born March 22, 1812 and married Mary Ann Jane Jordan on October 1, 1837 in Wilkes County, Ga. Josiah died in 1871 according to Meriwether County Probate Records. His wife, Mary Ann was born May 8, 1823 and died on June 7, 1884 according to McLaughlin Family Bible Records transcribed by the Daughters of the American Colonists. 2. Sarah C. McLaughlin was born about 1814 and married Joshua Brooks on December 27, 1831 in Wilkes County, Ga. Her exact date of death is not known but according to census records she died before 1860. Nothing more is known about Joshua Brooks. 3. Elizabeth McLaughlin was born about 1816 and married Amanuel Finley on January 04, 1835 in Troup County, Ga. Her date of death is unknown. Amanuel Finley was born about 1807 and died most likely in 1872 or 1873 according to an Annual Return dated 1873 filed at the Courthouse in Meriwether County, Ga. 4. Leander Francis McLaughlin was born about 1822 and married twice. First marriage to Mary, last name unknown, second marriage to Susan, last name unknown. The marriage dates and locations are not known. Leander was known as Frank and became a dentist. He died on January 9, 1905 in Americus, Ga. Nothing more is known about his wives. 5. Martha Ann McLaughlin was born about 1827 and married Cyrus J. Clower on January 28, 1847 in Meriwether County, Ga. Martha’s exact date of death is not known. She was listed as a survivor in her younger sister, Susannah McLaughlin Fielder’s obituary. Susannah died January 13, 1903 so Martha died sometime after this date. Nothing more is known about Cyrus Clowers. 6. Susannah V. McLaughlin was born February 20, 1829 and married William Pinkney Fielder on October 27, 1852 in Meriwether County, Ga. Susannah died on 1/13/1903 in Chattahoochee County, Ga. William Pinkney Fielder was born February 4, 1826 and died June 1, 1889 in Chattahoochee County, Ga. It appears that Susannah Tuck McLaughlin died giving birth to her youngest child, Susannah on February 20, 1829 or shortly thereafter. William married his second wife, Lucy Hood, on March 31, 1830 in Wilkes County, Ga. According to Family Bible records transcribed by the Daughters of the American Colonists, William McLaughlin passed away in Troup County, Georgia on January 18, 1841.
