The sad news of the untimely death of Mr. James I. Clements, at his home in Macon, reached this city on Monday afternoon. In reporting the death the Telegraph says of him: Mr. J. I. Clements, claim adjuster for the East Tennessee railroad, died at his home on Walnut street yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock of pneumonia. Mr. Clements contracted pneumonia almost one week ago, and since that time had gradually grown worse until yesterday the summons came. He leaves a wife and five children. Mr. Clements was born and reared in Irwin county, and was always regarded as an honorable, upright and intelligent citizen, and those who knew him best esteemed him most. "About a year ago he came to Macon and accepted the position of stock claim adjuster, which position he filled with such satisfaction to his superior officers that one month ago he was promoted to the position of claim adjuster, and had up to the time of his recent sickness filed that position with such ability that he would, no doubt, in a short time have been promoted to a still higher position." The remains were brought from Macon to Sycamore Tuesday morning and buried with Masonic honors Tuesday afternoon, 2 o'clock, in the Clement's burial ground---six miles northeast of Sycamore--where his dead relatives for three or more generations have been laid to rest. There was a large concourse of relatives and friends at the funeral. Quite a number of his Tifton friends and Masonic brethren--- all who could possible do so---attended at the obsequies. In death of J. I. Clements his wife and children have suffered an irriparable loss. He was our friend and we invoke for his loved ones, left behind, the protecting care and guidance of our Allwise Creator, "Who doeth all things well" and for His own glory.
