Turner Co. GA - Mrs. C. E. Ireland Submitted by: Janice (Johnston) Martin mjmartin99@avana.net Mrs. C.E. Ireland Last Rites Held for Mrs. Ireland, 97 Death came to Mrs. C.E. Ireland, 97, one of Turner County's oldest ladies, on Thursday, March 21, at the Turner County Hospital after a long illness. Funeral service was conducted Wednesday, March 22, at the Charles v. Perry Funeral Chapel. Officiating were the Rev. S.J. Brown of Statenville, a former pastor, and her pastor the Rev. Jon Van Horn of Sycamore. Commital for this beloved citizen was at Dakota Cemetery. Mrs. Annell T. Murphy rendered soft organ music and Larry walker sang "Just one Rose will do". Pallbearers were Roger Ireland, Joe Ireland, James Ireland, Homer Patterson, Earl Goff and Perry Buice. Born Oct. 20, 1874, Mrs. Ireland who was the former Mary A. Templeton, was the daughter of the late Andrew Templeton and Larcy Ann Warren Templeton. She was born in Cobb County, but she had come to Turner County in the earliest days of this section. On January 13, 1895, she was married to Charles E. Ireland, and to this union were born ten children. Mrs. Ireland's husband died October 9, 1940. Mrs. Ireland united with the Methodist Church as a young girl. She was a faithful member of Newton Methodist Church. "Grannie Ireland", as she was affectionately called by young and old, had many friends to mourn her passing. Her many floral offering were a tribute to her fond memory. Surviving are her children, H.G. Ireland of Ashburn; Mrs. J.W. Patterson of Ashburn; Mrs. F.E. Buice of Marietta; Mrs. G.A. Morgan of Irwinville; Mrs. R.H. Goff of Ashburn; C.J. Ireland of Tifton, two children Graburn and Virgie, preceded her in death, Also surviving are her brother, Seab Templeton of Valdosta, and her sister, Mrs. Virgie Sellers of Tifton.
