DC# 1568) and is buried at Mt. Zion. Twiggs County New Era on 1-8-1953, page 3 Danville Man Dies Of Burns Julian Chance, 52, Danville merchant, died in a local hospital Sunday from burns received when his auto caught fire in a wreck near his home Saturday. Chance has suffered intensive burns that covered his body. Neighbors extinguished the blaze by wrapping his body in blankets. Two men riding in the other car were held for overnight observation at the hospital and released. They were Irvin Grimsley and Hamby Thompson. State patrol Sgt. B. A. Snipes said their auto rammed the back of Chance's vehicle, causing the gasoline tank to explode as the car overturned. Funeral services were held on Tuesday in the Mt. Zion Church, Rev. M. J. Bennett, officiating, and burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, the former Miss Georgia Arnold; two daughters, Misses Opal and Mollie Chance; a son, H. J. Chance Jr.; two grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Lula Chance; two brothers, Homer L. and Clayton Chance; a sister, Mrs. Jule Carden. Hart's Mortuary of Macon was in charge of arrangements.
