John S. Chance was born abt 1871-1873 and died 7-27-1966 (Ga. DC# 022198) and is
buired in Mt. Zion. His parents William C. Chance and Caroline "Carrie" (maiden
name Lee) Chance as weel as hid wife, Ziphia (maiden name Floyd) Chance are also
buried there.

Thursday Rites for Mr. Chance of Danville

Funeral services for John Solomon Chance, 95, of Route 1, Danville, who died
Wednesday evening in a local hospital after being in declining health for some
time, will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Twiggs County at 4:00pm,
Thursday.  The Rev. A.T. Faircloth, pastor and Rev. M.J. Bennett will officiate
and interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

The body will be placed in state at Townsend Chapel until 3:00 Thursday when it
will be placed in the church.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. An honorary escort will include A.T. Land,
Earl Hambrick, Woodrow Nobles, John Kirkpatrick, Chester Wood and deacons of the
Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Mr. Chance was a lifelong resident of the Danville community, son of the late
William and Carolyn Lee Chance of Twiggs County.  His wife was the late Zilphia
Floyd Chance of Twiggs County. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Mt.
Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, W.J. Chance, Burton Chance and S.V. Chance, all of
Danville and R.C. Chance of Jeffersonville; three daughters, Mrs. D.F. Carden,
Mrs. W.J. Smith and Mrs. J.D. Arnold, all of Danville; fourteen grandchildren,
twenty-six great-grandchildren and sever great-great-grandchildren.

Townsend Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
