(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net November 4, 2011, 7:37 pm The Cochran Journal 3-3-1955 Page 1 Mrs. Davis Dies At Home Here Funeral services for Mrs. William Henry Davis, 73, who died early Thursday morning at her home here following an illness of several months, were held Friday afternoon at three o'clock at the Cool Springs Primitive Baptist Church. Elder Robert Sanders and Elder E. D. Bryant officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Davis was born in Twiggs County, the daughter of the late Jack and Henrietta Scarborough Davis. She has lived in the section most of her life and was the widow of the late W. Henry Davis. She was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church. Survivors are: six sons, U. E. Davis of Cordele, Andrew Davis of Warner Robins, J. E. Davis of Savannah, Frank Davis, W. L. Davis, and W. Herman Davis of Cochran; two daughters, Mrs. Fleta Jones of Cochran and Mrs. Grace Buckner of Macon; three brothers, George W. Scarborough of Akron, Ohio, William Scarborough of Jacksonville, Fla., and Grover Scarborough of Danville; two sisters, Mrs. Walter Norris of Cochran and Mrs. Carrie Howell of Macon; 16 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. Fisher Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Additional Comments: Mary Ann was born about 1881 to Andrew Jackson Scarborough and Henrietta Abney Scarborough.
