(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net July 16, 2013, 1:05 am The Griffin Daily News 2-5-1987 Page 2A Mr. Howell Mr. Elbert Griffin Howell, 60, of 19 Camp Road, Orchard Hill, died Wednesday at AMI Griffin-Spalding Hospital. The funeral will be Saturday at 11am at the Orchard Hill Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Elliott will officiate. Friends may visit the family tonight from 7-9 at the funeral home. Mr. Howell was an employee of Dorsey Trailers. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Japan during WWII. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jeanette Howell; a son, Keith Howell of Griffin; five daughters, Mrs. Edith Davidson, Mrs. Susan Manley, and Mrs. Kathi Sullivan, all of Griffin, Mrs. Debra Howell of Orchard Hill, and Mrs. Cynthia Bryan of Monroe, Ga.; four granddaughters and three grandsons; four brothers, Lonnie Howell, Emmett Howell, and C. M. Howell, all of Griffin, and Walter Howell of Collegedale, Tenn.; four sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Barlow of Forest Park, Mrs. Marcia Yarbrough of McDonough, Mrs. Frances Fowler and Mrs. Maggie Snow, both of Griffin; nieces and nephews. Westwood Funeral Home is In Charge. Additional Comments: Elbert was born 20 Sep 1926 to Walter Lee Howell Sr. and Maggie Pierce Howell, who are buried in Griffin Memorial Gardens in Griffin,Ga. Georgia death certificate #004588. His first wife was Agnes Marie Chasteen Howell who is also buried in Oak Hill Cemetery.
