SAMUEL JESSUP obituary

DIED...
At his residence in Twiggs county, on the 2nd day of
May after some two weeks illness, Mr. Samuel Jessup,
in the 72nd year of his age.  In his death society
has lost sone of its brightest ornaments, his wife a
kind husband, his children an affectionate father,
his servants a kind benevolent master. He has been a
member of the Baptist Church of Christ for a great
many years; his confinement he bore with much
patience and fortitude and submitted to his fate
without a murmur or complaint; he was beloved by all
who knew him, and bore an unimpeachable character,
in the neighborhood in which he lived, being
possessed of considerable of the goods of his world,
he was liberal in every good work.--He left a
disconsolate wife and a large number of relatives
and friends to mourn his untimely death.
     Religioun should our thoughts engage.
           Amidst our youthful bloom
     To fit us for declining age.
           And for the awful tomb.
