(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net January 21, 2011, 4:04 pm The Cochran Journal 7-26-1962 John Freeman Lamb Funeral services for John Freeman Lamb, 73, of 702 Third Street, who died early Saturday morning in the Peach County Hospital in Fort Valley, following an illness of two weeks, were held Sunday afternoon at the Cool Springs Primitive Baptist Church. The services were conducted by Elder Cecil Darity and Elder Robert Sanders. Burial was in the Cool Springs Cemetery. Mr. Lamb was born in Twiggs County, the son of the late John Richmond and Mary Elizabeth Parden (should be Partin) Lamb. He has lived in Bleckley County and Cochran the past thirty-one years and was a retired employee of the L&H Shirt Company. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Willie Mae Nobles Lamb of Cochran; one son, Thomas Lamb of Hawkinsville; four daughters, Mrs. Wallace Thompson of Cordele, Mrs. Lizzie Lease of Dublin, Mrs. George Holland of Cochran, and Mrs. Earl Strong of Decatur; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Marion Lamb of Macon. Honorary pallbearers were W. R. Rozier, Benard Howell, Lovie Nobles, Joe Brown, Hembry Darity, Elliott Sanders, Will Carroll, Mark Crutchfield, Benton Howell, Will Vaughn, J. O. Stokes, and E. M. Roberts. Active pallbearers were John H. Hinson, Ivy Smith, Tom Watson, Ralph Peacock, Talmadge Hinson, and F. Z. Southerland. Fisher Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
