(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net July 11, 2013, 1:44 pm The Cochran Journal 12-10-1959 Page 4 Mrs. Josh Lucas Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Lou Lucas, 71, who died Monday night at her home, were held Wednesday afternoon at the Lucy Chapel Methodist Church in Twiggs County. The services were conducted by the Rev. W. M. Coe and the Rev. James S. Bodenhamer. Burial was in the family lot in the church cemetery. Mrs. Lucas was born in Twiggs County, the daughter of the late Jim and Elizabeth Arnold Rozier and has lived all of her life in Twiggs and Bleckley counties. She was the widow of the late John (sic) Lucas and was a member of the Lucy Chapel Methodist Church. Survivors include six sons, Hoke Lucas, Wrightsville, Jim Lucas, Empire, Fred Lucas and Herbert Lucas, Cochran, and Gus Lucas, Chester; seven daughters, Mrs. Lucille Lucas, Mrs. Joe Graham and Mrs. Robert Jones, Cochran, Mrs. Robert Arnold, Danville, Mrs. Henry Grinstead and Mrs. Robert Maynard, Macon, and Willie Frank Gay, Dublin; two sisters, Mrs. J. R. Sanders, Macon and Mrs. Ed Nobles, Danville; 21 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren, The pallbearers were Nead Lucas, Jack Lucas, Tommie Lucas, Jack Lucas Jr., Frank Lucas, and Cecil Lucas. Fisher Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Additional Comments: Mattie Lou was born abt May 1888 to Jim Rozier/Rozar and Elizabeth Bell Arnold Rozier/Rozar Lucas Lamb.
