Martin Dies In Local Hospital Funeral services for John C. Martin, retired farmer, of Macon, Route 4, who died in a local hospital at 4:30 a.m. Thursday will be held in the New Haven Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment will be in the New Haven cemetery. The body will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Mr. Martin was born in Twiggs County, son of J.C. (s/b George W.) Martin and Bettie Clance Martin and had lived there all of his life. He was a member of the Baptist church. Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Bessie Birdsong of Gordon; 3 daughters, Mrs. C.C. Clayton, Mrs. W.A. Collins, and Mrs. J.T. Blackshear of Macon; two sons, James Martin of Dry Branch and Van Martin of Macon; seven grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Day, Mrs. Lucie Leslie, and Mrs. Charles Cranford of Gordon.
