Twiggs Lodge No. 164, F.A.M., May 10, 1873 On the 3d inst., our beloved brother, John Martin passed from life unto death, in the sixtieth year of his age, by drowning in Walnut Creek, on his return home from Macon, thereby causing another vacant seat in our lodge room. Thus we pass away, one by one, until all present will have passed from time to eternity;but such are God's irrevocable laws, and should be realilzed and accepted by us as right, without grief and without sorrow. "For all things work together for good to them that love the Lord." His death, so sudden, was rendered the more painful and afflicintg, adding a deeper and more sensibly felt calamity. Those unmistakable traits of character--honesty, integrity and brotherly love-- so important in the true Mascon, were splendidly developed and nobly evinced in all of his transactions with his fellow man. He was a gentle, affectionate and sympathetic father; and a faithful, loving and devoted husband. There was never a nature more generous and unselfish. Striving continuously to support his beloved family; yet no one, and especially a worthy brother, ever made application for aid in vain when it was in his power to assist. He was always the friend of the needy widow and the orphan, the poor and the forsaken. Whereas, it has pleased Almighty God to remove from the terrestrial to the celestial lodge, where there will be a happy reunion of the brethren. We humbly and submissively bow to the will of our Supreme Master. Be it therefore, Resolved, 1st, That Twiggs Lodge has lost a good and faithful member. Resolved, 2d, That the heartfelt sympathies of Twiggs Lodge be tendered the family of our deceased brother. Resolved, 3d, That a blank page in our minute book be dedicated to the memory of our deceased brother. Resolved, 4th, That the lodge room and jewels be draped in mourning for the space of thirty days, and the breathren wear the usual badge of mourning for the same space of time. Resolved, 5th, That this preamble and resolutions be published in the Daily Telegraph and Messenger and a copy be furnished family of deceased. W.O. Daniel J.T. Glover A.W.
