Padgett, 57 of 1425 Broadway, who died in a local hospital yesterday after a lengthy illness, will be held in the chapel of Hart's Mortuary at 3pm today. The Rev. James W. Waters and the Rev. Harry C. Dull will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers are to be Tommy Bates, H. W. Hardy, J. B. Hardy, H. J. Shelton, Dorsey Hammond, and James C. Donaldson. Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Mattie Barlow, Macon; seven daughters, Mrs. J. W. Slaughter, Mrs. A. T. Hardy, Mrs. Mike Crosby, Mrs. Mae Abney, Mrs. Helen Cannon, and Miss Sara Ann Padgett, all of Macon and Mrs. M. E. Bishop, Perry; three sons, Albert Padgett, James W. Padgett, and William Edward Padgett, all of Macon; 25 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. J. P. Moore, Danville, Mrs Henry Bridges and Mrs. M. Dykes, both of Cochran; and three brothers, Sam Padgett, Hudson Padgett, Zelner Padgett, all of Cochran. Additional Comments: Joe was born 17 Jan 1900 to James Samuel Padgett Sr. and Nancy A.
