Lucas was born 1-7-1850 and died 9-4-1935 and is buried at Mount Zion. Henry L Lucas The Twiggs County New Era 9-13-1935 page 4 Mr. Henry L. Lucas, a retired farmer of Twiggs County, died Wednesday, September 4th. He had been making his home with a daughter-in-law, Mrs. N.L. Lucas, who attended to his every need. Due to his advanced age of 85 years, he was quite feeble, but always appreciative of the love and attention of his family and all loved ones. He had been a member of Mt. Zion Church for fifty years. Mr. Lucas and his wife, who was Miss Smithie Pope, both life long residents of Twiggs County. Mrs. Lucas died in 1923 and his son, Needham L. Lucas, died last Spring. Another son, Marion Lucas, died several years ago. The funeral is being held Thursday at Mt. Zion Church, where he has spent much time in worship. Rev. J.E. Townsend is the preacher officiating. Besides his daughter-in-law with whom he resided, he is survived by two sons, J.W.D. and . R.L. Lucas, fourteen grandchildren and twentyfive great granchildren. The pallbearers were his grandsons and nephews: Shines, George, Need, Jack, Homer and Irving Lucas. T.W. Fisher & Son are the funeral directors in charge. Henry L.
