Ruby Carrol (maiden name Helton) was born 7-9-1909 in Higgsville, Twiggs County,
Georgia and died 11-24-1981 in Marion, McDowell County, North Carolina.


Ruby Swann

Ruby Helton Swann, 72, of Church St., Old Fort, died in Marion General Hospital,
Tuesday evening, Nov. 24, after a brief illness.
Born in Twiggs County, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Benjamin F. and
Hannah Chance Helton. She was employed for many years with the Old Fort
Telephone Company. She was a member of the Old Fort 1st Church, 25 year member
and past matron of Old Fort Chapter #175 Order Eastern Star, active in McDowell
Co. Democratic Party serving for many years as judge of Old Fort Percinct #1 and
past member of McDowell Co. Democratic Executive Committee.
Surviving are one son, Gayden Swann Jr. of Old Fort; one brother, Forrest Helton
of Danville, Ga.; one sister, Mrs. Nellie Allen of Irwinton, Ga.; and one
granddaughter.
Funeral services were held at Old Fort 1st Baptist Church, Friday at 2PM by
Revs. Tom Lolley and Mike Holland with burial in McDowell Memorial Park.
