September, 1881 Vol. 3 No. 12 William M. Stephens: It grieves me very much to write you the obituary of "Uncle" William M. Stephens, who departed this life at his home in Crawford Co., Ga., on Sunday morning, June 12th. He was confined to his bed three days, though he had been unwell for three or four weeks. Just a week before he died, erysipelas appeared on his face, and kept rapidly spreading until h affected his brain, causing death. About three years ago, he made a profession of faith, and united himself with the Baptist Church, and the people who knew him say, "That it is seldom, such is called away, because he was a good neighbor, a good member of th^ Church, and a Christian man." He leaves a wife and five little children to mourn his death. Very respectfully yours, J. L. Stephens
