Zion in Twiggs County. From The Macon Telegraph 12-22-1961 Page 20A Lonnie Thompson Dies; Rites Set Funeral services for Lonnie Thompson, 64, of 768 Applewood Street, who died in a local hospital at 1:45AM yesterday after a lengthy illness, will be held at 3PM Saturday in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Thompson, a retired farmer, was born in Twiggs County, the son of Lon Thompson and Mrs. Mary Fowler Thompson. He had lived here for eight years, coming from Danville. He was a member of the East Side Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Annie Mae Hamm, Macon; two sons, Hubert Thompson, Macon and M-Sgt Hansel Thompson, Air Force at Austin, Texas; three daughters, Mrs. M. R. Mixon and Mrs. Gladys Campbell, both of Macon, and Mrs. V. L. brown, St. Louis, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Alvin Thompson and Linton Thompson, both of Danville; four sisters, Miss Nellie Thompson, Danville, Mrs. C. H. Howell, Montrose, Mrs. W. H. Hamm, Dry Branch, and Mrs. Mary Nobles, Macon; and several nieces and nephews.
