Jones Journal of The North Georgia Conference Roll of Our Dead (1934) David Baine Cantrell was born in White County, Ga. and passed away at his home in Atlanta, Ga. On Dec. 11, 1887, he married Miss Mary Kitty Crenshaw with whom he lived happily for almost 47 years. She survives him along with a son, a daughter, a sister and 6 grandchildren. On Oct. 13, 1894, Brother Cantrell was given local preacher license by the Quarterly Conference of the Oxford Circuit. He remained a local preacher for 5 years. He attended Emory College and graduated in 1897. In 1899, at Augusta, he was admitted on trial into the North Ga. Conference. In Jan., 1929 he was ordered by his physician to give up his work and he was superannuated in Nov. 1929. During his ministerial career this man built 19 Churches and 9 parsonages. The word "built" being used almost literally, for with his own hands he worked on everyone of them. At the time of his death, he was the assistant pastor of St. Paul Church in Atlanta.
