Weathers Rev. Chastain, son of B.L. and Eliza Harwell Chastain, was born in Walker Co., May 16, 1859. He was converted at age thirteen and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. He was the nephew of Revs. Richard and Theophelus Sterling Lane Harwell. In his early life he chose the practice of medicine as his vocation which he pursued for twelve years. In the pursuit of his vocation he received the devine call to preach and gave thirty-eight years of his life to the ministry.He was licensed to preach on April 3, 1893. He was pastor at Warm Springs when he passed away. He was twice married. His first marriage was to Miss Mattie Kiker of Calhoun, Ga., June 25, 1884, who died Jan. 14, 1902. Two daughters blessed this marriage; Mrs. E.L. Blackwood and Mrs. T.H. Lang both of whom survive him. His second marriage was to Miss Nina Oxford, of Dalton, Ga.
