Author: William H. LaPrade, Jr.

Rev. Eakes was born at Cumming, Forsyth County, Ga. His father was Rev. Robert 
A. Eakes and his mother, Mrs. Nancy Sims Eakes. The was known as "Mac Eakes." 
He was licensed to preach when he was just 17 years old, just before he entered 
Emory College where he graduated in 1897. 
As a builder, he erected a parsonage in his first charge. On his 22nd birthday 
he was married to Miss Lula Guinn of Conyers, Ga.
