Dempsey Rev. King was born in Alachua County, Florida and graduated from Wofford College, Spartenburg, S.C. in 1879. Without delay he entered upon his life's work as a minister that same year with a license to preach. He was the son of Rev. Edward L. King (South Carolina Conference) and Martha Kennedy King. On March 20, 1883, he was married to Miss Harriet Lillie Gallagher in Orville, Ala. The children of this union are: Mrs. E.F. Daniel and Mrs. Dan Bird and Edward Lewis King and three grandchildren. Funeral services for Dr. King were conducted at The First Methodist Church in Decatur. In June, this year, he experienced a fall from which complications set up. He died at Wesley Memorial Hospital.
