Pierce Rev. LaPrade, Sr. was licensed to preach May 16, 1868. He was transferred from the Lousina Conference to the Mississippi Conference and onto the North Georgia Conference. In 1926 he was superannuated having given 54 years without a break. He was born in Apalachicola, Fla. His father was a Virginia gentleman of the old school. His father died while he was a young boy and Rev. LaPrade received most all of his religious training from his Mother. He graduated from Emory college in 1872. He married Miss Carrie Smith, the daughter of Rev. Luther M. Smith, President of Emory College. She was a graduate of Wesleyan College, 1869. To this union came two children. One died in early life and the other is an honored member of the North Ga. Conference, Dr. W.H. LaPrade.
