Marvin Bledsoe Whittaker was born in Newberry, S.C. His father was the Rev. 
Hugh Walker Whittaker.
Preacher Whittaker was licensed to preach, July 14, 1909, ordained deacon by 
Bishop Wilson, Nov. 1911 and elder, Nov. 1913. He was admitted on trial into 
the N. Ga. Conference, Nov. 1909 and into full connection, 1911.
He was superannuated, 1924, not from age but, sickness. A years rest improved 
his illness and he served the Brooks Circuit in 1925 but his health gave away 
again and he was superannuated in that year. For several years he lived in 
Lakeland, Fla. in search of health and it was there that his wife died and he 
returned to Ga. and died in Hawkinsville, Ga. and buried in Newberry, S.C. 
Two sons survive them, Marvin C. and Hugh W. of Lakeland, Fla.
