Dempsey Rev. Williams was licensed to preach in 1880, was admitted on trial into the North Ga. Conference into full connection, Nov. 1889. After he was superannuation, fall of 1923, he and his family consisting of his wife, Miss Sarah Crawford Tate, sister of Col. Sam Tate, and their only child, a daughter, Miss Elizabeth, made their home in Tate, Ga. in order to be near relatives residing there. His wife died in 1928. His body was laid to rest by his wife in the Tate Family Cemetery, Tate, Ga. on Tues, Oct. 3. Original and independent in mind, he took his own way intellectually and great has been his native state because of it. He was the first in his family to enter the ministry. This is quite contrary to the general rule which is almost without exception, preachers appear in families that have already produced men of the cloth.
