As the small party which left the Ocmulgee Association in 1839 claims to be the true and original body, we use the word junior merely to distinguish between the two. This body assembled, it is presumed, for its second meeting, at Elim, in Jones county, the llth September, 1840. T. D. Oxford preached the introductory sermon, was moderator, preached on the Sabbath— indeed, was the only minister belonging to the concern. Letters from three churches were read—two others join—five churches in all. Four baptized, nineteen excluded, forty-one dismissed, one minister, and three hundred and nineteen members. The body has no correspondence with other Associations, and very little is known of its history of late years. Additional Comments: From: GEORGIA BAPTISTS: HISTORICAL AND BIOGRAPHICAL BY J. H.
