God, Mother is gone to Her Heavealy home above God now. It don't look like I can stand it! She died so easy and with that ever lasting Sweet Smile on Her Sweet face that will never fade from my memory- I will close. I can't write. Let's prepare to meet her in Her new home in Heaven. ByBy, your loving Bud and family, Sam Phillips (over) She past away yesterday at 7:30 o'clock and was buried today at 3 o'clock. Additional Comments: Letter from Samuel Alexander Phillips, son of Sampson Sanford Phillips and Helen "Ellen" Matilda (Horn) Phillips to his brother Daniel Thomas Phillips in Wildwood, Sumter Co., Florida. The letter informs Daniel of his and Samuel's mother's passing on October 20, 1917. The Letter was kept in the Phillips Family Bible. After the death of Daniel and his wife, Sarah, the Bible went to Daniel's grandson, Joel Clark, Sr. (Submitter). Spelling and punctuation is left as in the letter. The original letter is preserved in a plastic sleeve in a fire proof safe. It is the only known record of Helen's death.
