He married Ida Acee born about 1832, daughter of Doctor Alfred Lee Acee & Ascension E. (Slatter) Acee of Talbot Co., Ga. They were the parents of one son, Alfred Miller born about 1856. Gustavus Adolphus Miller was a lawyer, editor & publisher, and served in the House of Commons of Davie County, North Carolina in 1842, 1844, & 1845. G. A. Miller was evidently a "Man of Parts," he organized a Shakespeare Reading Club, addressed political assemblies, represented Upson County at State conventions in addition to his duties as Editor of the Upson Pilot which he filled in such an acceptable manner that the paper obtained a wide circulation in the State and even in other states. (History of Upson County, Nottingham & Hannah, 1930, page 720.) Gustavus Adolphus Miller, owned the Upson Pilot in Thomaston and was also Editor of the Columbus Enquirer in Columbus, Ga. He enlisted in Company I, 6th Regiment Georgia State Troops, which later became Co. I, 32nd Georgia Regiment. He was discharged from Co. I, 2nd Ga. because of age and he later joined the 59th Georgia, where he served as personal Secretatry to Col. Jack Brown. He wrote the articles to the Macon Telegraph that we printed in the July Tracer, using the initials "G.A.M." In the August Tracer we have some of his writings from earlier times using the initial "M". See July & August Tracer for more on G. A. Miller.
