Turn left on Johnson Road ( was called Racetrack Road) Go 9/10 miles, Cemetery is on Right side of Road 40 yards. PRIVATE PROPERTY owned by a Mr. Kirkland. Request permission before visiting. Black February 18,1851 - ? husband of Louisa Marshall Black The body of Mr.T.H.Black, a former well known resident of Upson County,was buried at the old Black family cemetery near The Rock Wednesday. Mr Black died Tuesday at home of his daughter,Mrs. S.E.Wilson,at Dudley. The funeral exercises were conducted by Rev. G.C.Knowles,pastor The Rock charge. Mr.Black was formerly a citizen of Upson County having been born and reared near The Rock,He moved to Dublin about 17 years ago to make his home. He was born February 18,1851 and was son of James R.Black,a pioneer resident of Upson County. The deceased was for many years engaged in the marcantile and farming business at The Rock as was his father before him. In October 1871 Mr Black married Miss Louisa Marshal Collier,a daughter of R.M.Collier of The Rock. To this union were born ten children, six of whom survive: Mrs. S.E.Wilson of Dudley,Mayor E.T.Black of Thomaston,Dr.C.M.Black of Talbotton, Mr. E.H.Black of The Rock, Mr. E.L.Black of Dublin, Mrs. Otis L.Chivers of Dublin. Mr.Black was a member of the Baptist church. He was well known to many of the older residents of the county having been prominently identified with the earlier history of the county. Mayor E.T.Black and his brother and sisters have the sympathy of the people of Upson county in the death of their father. =========== Thomas BLACK who is buried in the Black Cemetery on Mud Bridge Road in Upson County, GA. Thomas BLACK had three wives. Matilda LEVERETTE, Faitha MEADOWS, and Lucy LEGG. Thomas and Faitha MEADOWS BLACK's children were: James Richardson BLACK, Caswell BLACK, William Thomas BLACK, Sidney T. BLACK, Permelia Priscilla BLACK, John T. BLACK, Nathaniel S. BLACK, Cary A. BLACK, and Susan Emily BLACK. Thomas BLACK's father was Skip Richardson BLACK of Putnam County, GA. Richardson BLACK was married to Mary BROWN and Rutha MEADOWS. Richardson BLACK's father was Thomas BLACK of Pittsylvannia County, VA. This Thomas BLACK's wife was Susanna SKIPWORTH RICHARDSON of Pittsylvannia County, VA. This Thomas BLACK's father was William BLACK of Halifax/Pittsylvannia County, VA. William BLACK was a Revolutionary War Patriot. Thomas Black was a Capt. in the Pittsylvannia Militia during the Revolutionary War. I hope this not too confusing. Colbert. This child was born August 15, 1885; Baptized by Reverend S.C. McDaniel, Aug. 15, 1886. His death illustrates the saying "Death loves a shining mark."
